NEW SERIES OF DRESSING DOLLS, DARLING EDITH, ARTISTIC SERIES 22, U.S. PATENT FEBRUARY 20 TH, 1894

please refer to the book COLLECTOR'S GUIDE TO RAPHAEL TUCK & SONS BY BLAIR & MARGARET WHITTON for a very complete listing. On page 80 they discuss this series but do not have DARLING MARGERY-ARTISTIC SERIES 20 or DARLING GLADYS (same doll and outfits as MURIEL but the boxes are marked as GLADYS. It consists of four different sets, DARLING MARGERY-ARTISTIC SERIES 20 (dresses are full length). DARLING HILDA-ARTISTIC SERIES 21 (dresses are ankle length), DARLING EDITH-ARTISTIC SERIES 22 (dresses are ankle length), and DARLING MURIEL-ARTISTIC SERIES 23 (dresses are knee length), . each set comes in a white folder with her name and an image of the doll in one of her costumes on the top cover., DESIGNED BY MARGUERITE MCDONALD Published in Britain with the PATENT NO. 23003, and in America with the U.S. PATENT FEBRUARY 20 TH, 1894 but Whitton only identifies the American ones.

doll, head separate but "attached at a proper angle, onto an elongated neck, space being left under the chin to slip on the separate costume which also came with a neck long enough to allow this manipulation" page 70 of PAPER DOLLS A GUIDE TO COSTUME BY CLARA HALLARD FAWCETT, 1951. , she has long curly hair with a white ribbon in her hair, she has two pearl necklaces and faces slightly to her left, her arms hang down. she wears a green and white undercoat slip with a ribbon tie at the waist and lace at the neckline and hem. shoes and stockings are black.
